I always used to hear parents say things like "They grow up so quick" or "Hasn't the time flown by?". It's not until I was preparing to take my daughter to her first birthday outing that I realised why. The last year has flown by and she's grown up so quick!
I started this blog with the hopes of updating it much more regularly, but I got sidetracked. It seemed she was learning something new every few days and I wanted to experience that more than document it, so I did.
We've gone through so much already, she's moved from her me-to-you into her cot in her room, gone from guzzling milk to eating solids and eventually wanting to feed herself. We've had sleepless nights full of teething pains, colds and hand, foot and mouth, tired days fuelled by caffeine to get by and more questions than answers. And yet, it's been the best year of my life watching her grow!
Now she's turned 1, I can see more and more of her personality coming through, she's started identifying objects and naming them (birds, dogs and fish especially!), she's starting to express preferences for toys or handing toy animals to us endlessly to be named before taking them back.
Now we start our journey with a "toddler", I can't wait to find out what she learns to do next. Equally, I dread to think what mischief she gets up to. She has my and my wife's genes and that means she's going to be keeping us on our toes!
Here's to our next year as a family!
